Frequently Asked Questions
Can you supply bearings that require no grease or other lubricant?
We sure can! Almost all of our plastic bearings are oil-free and grease-free, requiring
no lubrication. In addition, they can also be used in conditions with oil, grease, water, or
any other liquid. A little lubricant can help, but is completely unnecessary.
Do you have any bearings made of a highly corrosion-resistant material?
You know, plastic does NOT rust, so a resounding Yes!.
If you inform us of the specific environment where the bearings will be used, then we can most likely supply what you need.
Do you offer Non-magnetic bearings?
No problem. Almost all Kashima Bearings, Inc plastic bearings are non-magnetic, with some exceptions, such as those with stainless-steel balls. However, we recommend the use of glass, ceramic or plastic balls if magnetism is a factor.
Do you supply any bearings whose material is resistant to chemicals?
Yes, we can provide bearings made of materials resistant to almost all chemicals. Just inform us of the specific chemical name, and we've got you covered.
Do you have bearings resistant to ultraviolet-ray exposure?
Can you provide bearings that can be used in sea-water?
No problem. We do indeed have some plastic bearings that can be used in sea-water, although you must be sure that they do not catch any foreign objects such as seaweed fragments.
Please contact us for further information.
Is there any problem in using bearings in completely dry conditions?
No problem at all. In fact, our plastic bearings are perfect for use in dry conditions as that is the most common environment.
Can you provide bearings made of materials that can be used for food-related products?
Sure, we can provide some bearings that are suitable for such products, although material options suitable for food-related products are relatively few. Please contact us for further information.
Do you have any bearings usable in gasoline or alcohol?
Yes, we have some bearings that can be used in gasoline or alcohol. In addition, we can provide some bearings that can be used with other organic solvents.
Do you have any bearings that are not easily damaged by contact with metal?
Indeed, we have some materials that are not easily damaged by such contact; it depends on the type of metal. We also have materials suitable for soft metals. Please give us more specific details.
We are looking for miniature-size plastic bearings. What is the minimum possible size in your lineup?
The minimum dimensions of our plastic bearings are 3 mm for inner diameter, 10 mm for outer diameter, and 4 mm for thickness.
Do you have large-size plastic bearings?
Kashima Bearings, Inc can and has produced bearings with maximum dimensions of 150 mm for outer diameter and 120 mm for inner diameter.
Please understand that the load capacity of plastic bearings does not increase in proportion to their size.
What kind of information do you need to select the material?
We need to know a lot about the environment and conditions in order to provide the optimum bearings: the rotation-speed, expected load, temperature, atmosphere (dry, wet, specific chemicals to be used, etc.), and any current problems. Based on this information, we can select the most suitable material and offer you an existing product, or design one for you easily.
Do you supply custom-made products?
Indeed, we do! We have excellent skills in the design and manufacturing of custom-made products.
After consultation with our customers, we provide them with the special products they request, or with an assembly of parts useful for reducing the number of existing parts. Quantities of small lots is usually no problem.
