Low-Torque Plastic Bearing with Impeller for Small-Volume Liquid Measurement

This bearing is used in equipment designed to measure liquid flow. Previously, the impeller was mounted onto a metal bearing. However, due to concerns about corrosion caused by the liquid, a request was made to replace the bearing component with a plastic version. As the liquid is alkaline and a certain level of rigidity is required due to the small diameter, PEEK was selected for its high stiffness and excellent resistance to alkaline environments. In addition, we proposed integrating the impeller and bearing into a single component to reduce the number of parts. As demonstrated in this case, we are capable of manufacturing bearings in non-standard shapes and sizes. Whether[…..]

Chemically Resistant Threaded Plastic Bearings for Use in Hydrofluoric Acid Environments

This case study introduces bearings used in transfer carriers designed for operation in hydrofluoric acid environments. This project involved selecting suitable bearings for a transport system operating in a chemical environment using hydrofluoric acid (HF). Hydrofluoric acid is an extremely aggressive chemical that corrodes many metals, making conventional metal bearings unsuitable due to corrosion and durability issues. For this reason, the use of chemically resistant plastic bearings was a fundamental requirement. Material selection for hydrofluoric acid-resistant bearings Materials suitable for use in HF environments include: PCTFE (Polychlorotrifluoroethylene) PPS (Polyphenylene sulfide) PP (Polypropylene) Rigid PVC In chemical environments, selecting the appropriate bearing material is critical and depends on factors such as[…..]

Grease-Free High-Temperature Plastic Bearings for Furnace Applications (Up to 350 °C)

This bearing is used in components located near industrial furnaces. Since any contact with oil would be unacceptable, metal bearings could not be used. Therefore, a grease-free bearing solution with high temperature resistance was required. As the bearing is exposed to hot air of approximately 250°C near the furnace, it was determined that even high-performance materials such as PEEK might not be sufficient. For this reason, a carbon bearing with heat resistance up to 350°C was proposed. This bearing can operate without lubrication, preventing contamination of the product. In conventional carbon bearings, the cage cannot be made of carbon and is therefore typically manufactured from plastic. However, plastic cages have[…..]

High-Load Plastic Roller Bearings for Solar Cells

Conventional plastic deep groove ball bearings use balls that rotate at a point, whereas plastic roller bearings use rollers that rotate along a line, allowing them to withstand greater loads. Currently, they are used in applications such as conveyor rollers for transporting materials in chemically-laden environments within solar cell production facilities. Plastic Roller Bearings This is how the roller looks like. Related Pages ・Custom-made Ball Bearings ・Chemical Environment ・Wells & Environmental Pumps     Back to Case studies

Pillow Block Bearings for Conveyor Rollers in a Sludge Treatment Plant

Our special pillow block bearings were used for the conveyor rollers in the sludge treatment plant. Originally, there was a consideration to extend the lifespan because the previously used pillow block bearings were worn out by sludge. To prevent sludge from remaining in the sliding area, we made special holes along the outer diameter of the bushing to the inner diameter and milled spirals into the inner diameter. These holes serve to allow the sludge that accumulates in the inner diameter to flow through and help extend the lifespan by enabling a water solution. In fact, tests with this specification showed that wear was significantly reduced compared to before. As[…..]

Plastic Bearings in a Process for Surface Treatment of Thin Sheets

Our Self-aligning ball bearings were used in a process for surface treatment of copper sheets. Two rollers are suspended vertically, and the copper plate passes through the process by running between the rollers and being chrome-plated. Bearings were used at the top of these rollers. As the copper plate passes, the rollers tend to tilt and shift, hence a self-aligning function is required. Additionally, the rollers bear vertical loads, imposing additional requirements on the bearings. Therefore, we proposed our self-aligning ball bearings, which can accommodate this axial load. It is a special form not available in standard specifications, but we can manufacture it through CNC machining. Our company specializes in[…..]

Plastic Bearings for Extremely Cold Environments

Our bearings were used for the ice cream production line. Due to the manufacturing of ice cream in extremely cold environments and the use of cleaning agents during the cleaning process, a transition to plastic was considered. Because of the extremely low temperatures, we recommended the use of PTFE from our side. PTFE is a material that can be used even in extremely low temperatures of up to -268°C. However, it should be noted that dimensional changes occur significantly at temperatures. Therefore, it is important to consider the change in dimensions when used in high or low temperatures. Furthermore, we also offer materials that have been enhanced with fillers to[…..]

Double-Row Plastic Bearings

These bearings are used in a thread feeding line. Initially, a plastic bearing of type 6002 was used, but it could not withstand the load and led to rotational errors. Without changing the size of φ32×φ15×9L, the specification was changed from a single row to a double row, and by adding more balls, a higher load could be accommodated. In addition, by switching to an angular contact structure internally, a certain amount of axial load was also made possible. Depending on the size, it is possible to manufacture bearings with such internal specification changes. Non-Magnetic and Insulating Bearings That Do Not React to Metal Detectors

Our plastic bearings can be used near metal detectors. To ensure that there are no metal contaminants present, we do not use metallic bearings in such locations, as they can react to metal detectors and lead to inaccurate results. Metal is detected through methods such as electrical conductivity or magnetic reaction, but plastic is generally an insulator and non-magnetic, making it useful in such specialized environments. However, some plastics can accumulate static electricity due to their insulation. Since this electrostatic charge can sometimes interfere with equipment, we recommend using bearings made of antistatic plastic in such cases. Depending on requirements, we offer solutions with various materials. Please contact us if[…..]

Plain Plastic Bearings for Liquid Seasoning Filling Machines

Our plastic bearings are used for the roller parts of conveyor chain belts in liquid seasoning filling machines. Metal parts cause rust when liquid seasoning spills onto them and sticks to the chain. This results in the chain and bearings clumping together, and since replacing the bearings alone is difficult, the entire chain had to be replaced. By switching the chain bearings to plastic, we achieved a longer lifespan. Additionally, it is now possible to easily replace only the plastic rollers, leading to significant cost savings.
