FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q

Up to what speed and load can the bearings be used?

A

This depends on the material and size. Please contact us for details. (Performance is lower than that of metal bearings.)

Q

Can you supply non-magnetic bearings?

A

Except for a few exceptions, all bearings from Kashima Bearings Inc. are non-magnetic. We recommend using balls made of glass, ceramic, or plastic in such cases.

Q

Do you produce oil-free bearings that do not need to be lubricated with grease and/or lubricants?

A

Most plastic bearings from Kashima Bearings Inc. are oil-free and do not require lubrication. Additionally, they can be used in oil, grease, water, and other liquids.

Q

Can you supply bearings made of chemical-resistant materials?

A

Kashima Bearings Inc. can provide bearings made of materials that can withstand almost all chemicals. Please inform us of the specific chemical you intend to use, and we will be happy to advise you on the most suitable bearing material.

Q

Do you have bearings made of materials with high corrosion resistance?

A

The advantage of plastics is that they do not rust. Please specify the conditions under which you intend to use the ball bearings, and we will be happy to advise you on the suitable bearing material.

Q

Do you have bearings that can also be processed with metals without suffering damage?

A

While it depends on the type of metal, we have some materials that can be processed with metals without suffering damage. We also have materials suitable for soft metals. Please provide us with more details about your specific requirements, and we will be happy to advise you on the most suitable bearing material.

Q

Do you have bearings that can be used in gasoline or alcohol?

A

Yes, we have bearings that can be used in gasoline or alcohol. We also have some bearings that are compatible with other organic solvents.

Q

Do you produce bearings that can be used in food production facilities?

A

While there are only a few materials suitable for the food industry available for selection, we are able to provide some bearings suitable for this product area.

For more information, please contact us directly.
Q

Do you have bearings that are UV resistant?

A

Yes, we also produce UV-resistant bearings.

For more information, please contact us directly.
Q

Do you produce bearings that can be used in saltwater?

A

We produce some plastic bearings that can be used in saltwater. When using them, care must be taken to ensure that no foreign substances, such as seaweed residues, adhere to them.

For more information, please contact us directly.
Q

Is it possible to manufacture all-ceramic bearings?

A

The inner ring, outer ring, and balls can be made of ceramic, but the cage is made of plastic.

Q

We are looking for miniature plastic bearings. What is the smallest size available in your product range?

A

The smallest size of our plastic bearings is the version with a 3 mm inner diameter, 10 mm outer diameter, and 4 mm thickness.

Q

Are there plastic bearings that can be used at high temperatures?

A

We offer plastic bearings made of materials that can basically withstand temperatures up to 350°C. Please contact us for more information.

For more information, please contact us directly.
Q

Do you have plastic bearings in larger sizes?

A

Kashima Bearings Inc. manufactures bearings with maximum dimensions of 150 mm outer diameter and 120 mm inner diameter. It should be noted that the load capacity of plastic bearings does not increase proportionally with size.

Q

Are there plastic bearings with high load capacity?

A

This depends on the material and size. For ball bearings, please consider the load capacity to be a few percent of that of metal bearings. For high-load applications, we recommend plain bearings as they offer higher load capacities.

Q

Are there plastic bearings with seals or shields?

A

We offer the BL type, which has a double-shielded design (similar to ZZ). Unlike metal bearings, these are not hermetically sealed, so fine dust or particles may enter. We do not offer a completely sealed type. However, please note that the presence of moisture is often a favorable condition for plastic bearings.

Q

Are there any issues with using bearings in completely dry environmental conditions?

A

Our plastic bearings are also suitable for use in dry environmental conditions.

Q

What is the best material for plastic gears?

A

We will make proposals based on your application and operating conditions. Please contact us.

Q

Is there a standard specification table for gears?

A

There is no standard table. If you have specific details, please send us drawings or rough sketches, and we will make a proposal accordingly.

Q

Is there a dimension table for bearings?

A

These are not listed in the catalog. The dimensions for outer and inner diameters as well as thickness basically comply with metal versions (JIS standard). Please consult us if you have requests for other special sizes.

Q

What is the minimum order quantity?

A

We do not have a specific minimum order quantity. We sell from a single piece.

Q

How long is the delivery time?

A

Basically, products are made to order. Currently, the lead time is approximately 3 weeks after receiving the order. For large quantities, please consult us separately.

Q

Do you perform service life calculations?

A

If you provide us with your operating conditions, we will perform the calculation for you.

Q

Are CAD data (e.g., DXF format) available?

A

Currently, these are not available as standard. If required, please consult us.

Q

Is there an English catalog?

A

We have English and German catalogs for ball bearings. Please request them from the 'Contact Us' page.

Q

What information do you need for material selection?

A

For selecting the most suitable materials, we require more details about the rotational speed, loads, temperature, and atmospheric conditions (e.g., dry, humid, specific chemicals to be used, etc.).

Q

How are the products delivered?

A

After cleaning, they are packed in bags according to the order quantity and shipped. If you require individual packaging, please specify separately. We do not use individual boxes.

Q

How can I request a quote?

A

Please contact us via the inquiry form on the 'Contact Us' page, email, or fax. If you have already decided on the model number and material, please provide that information. If the material is unknown, we will select the appropriate material based on your conditions and provide a quote.

Q

What is the manufacturing precision?

A

For plastic products, precision varies by material. Due to the coefficient of thermal expansion and water absorption, a clearance or manufacturing tolerance of at least 30 to 50 µm is required. Depending on the size, 100 to 200 µm may be necessary.

Q

Can I get samples?

A

Regarding samples, we consult on a case-by-case basis whether they can be provided free of charge or for a fee.

Q

Do you also manufacture products according to customer requirements?

A

Yes, we have excellent expertise in manufacturing products tailored to customer requirements. We provide detailed consultation to our customers and can recommend additional assembly parts that may help reduce the number of components. We also accommodate deliveries in small quantities.

Q

What is the difference between metal and plastic bearings?

A

There are many differences, but the main ones are: oil-free, no corrosion or deterioration due to rust or chemicals, lightweight, non-magnetic, insulating, etc.

Q

Can you support us even at a great distance?

A

We support customers worldwide. Please feel free to contact us even if an on-site visit is required.

Q

The inquiry form is not working correctly.

A

In the unlikely event that the inquiry form does not work correctly, please contact us by email, fax, or telephone.
