One of our customers has chosen our plastic ball bearings for the film transport roller shafts.
Race ring and cage: PEEK
Balls: Aluminum oxide ceramic
After using the equipment, metallic bearings corrode in a short period when cleaned with chemicals such as toluene. Although other plastic materials can be used with these chemicals, we chose PEEK due to slightly increased load.
As you can see, not only chemicals but also other conditions such as load, rotation speed, and temperature are involved in the material selection process.
