Dry Environment

~ Maintenance-Free – No Lubricants Needed ~

At Kashima Bearings, we exclusively utilize pure plastics, avoiding those derived from recycling processes.

Metal bearings, comprising the outer ring, inner ring, and balls, inherently exhibit high frictional losses, leading to significant heat generation due to friction. To mitigate this, lubricants are typically introduced into metal bearings. Furthermore, these lubricants prevent oxidation of the bearing sliding surfaces.

The challenge with using lubricants:

  • Regular maintenance (replenishing lubricants) is necessary.
  • Contact with water or other liquids can cause lubricants to leak, resulting in accelerated wear and rust formation. Contamination of the bearing environment may also occur.

In contrast, our plastic bearings are entirely composed of plastic (outer/inner ring and cage), except for the balls. Depending on the application, the balls can be made of glass, ceramic, stainless steel, or plastic. Thanks to the materials we employ, lubricating the bearings is unnecessary, as they exhibit minimal frictional behavior.

Our plastic bearings can be deployed in extremely challenging environments, including refrigerated or frozen spaces, food production, cleanrooms, electroplating processes, and more. Additionally, due to their exceptional insulation properties, our bearings find utility in metrology applications.

The following video demonstrates the low friction of our plastic bearings using a hand spinner.
